Session Border Controllers

A Session Border Controller (SBC) is a session-aware device that manages VoIP Sessions at the borders of an IP network. Unlike most network devices session border controllers are aware of the relationship between the two parts of a VoIP call: signaling and media.

IP-based communications have evolved too much more than just alternative connectivity. Customers require  truly real-time interactive communication services such as: voice calling, PBX/Centrex services, presence with instant voice or video calling/conferencing, multimedia collaboration, video conferencing, distance learning, interactive Customer/Supplier Relationship Management (C/SRM), multimedia customer care web sites and more. The delivery of these real-time interactive communications across IP networks must work end-to-end - to anyone, anywhere, any time.

Interactive communications must be supported across multiple IP networks wire line, wireless, cable while satisfying critical security, service assurance and law enforcement requirements.
